7/10/12 – Providence, RI – The La Salle Academy “Arts Alive!” summer tour, produced by Fine Arts teacher and program Director Elissa Cerros, is “alive” indeed! At its most recent appearance made at Bishop McVinney School’s summer daycare in Providence on July 10 the La Salle student actors gave performances of two children’s plays that thrilled the young audience.

The Arts Alive Summer Tour plays were “Don’t Count Your Chickens Until They Cry Wolf” by Carol Lynn Wright Pearson with music by J.A.C. Redford, and “AstroCat” by La Salle grad Eric Emma ’06, an award winning writer, who recently earned a Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing from NYU.

“Don’t Count Your Chickens,” which was produced for preschool through 2nd grade students, was directed by recent grad Molly Nocera ’12 who currently attends Saint Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota.

La Salle grad Amy McGuirk ’07, directed “AstroCat” which was produced for 3rd through 6th graders. Amy is a 2012 graduate of Syracuse University. Ms. Cerros produced and assisted in the direction of both productions.

The Arts Alive Summer Tour, which targets inner city schools, community centers, camps and libraries, has been running for 9 years. In those nine years, the Arts Alive troupe has given an estimated 125 performances!
