The La Salle Academy, Providence, Boys Track Team won the Penn Relays High School Distance Medley Championship of America race Friday night at the University of Pennsylvania. Matt Bouthilette, Cameron Morenzi, Dan Paiva, and Jack Salisbury ran a 10:12.10 to defeat the McDonogh School of Maryland by .09 seconds, and CBA of Lincroft, New Jersey by .68. It is the first championship at the Penn Relays for La Salle since 1942. Anyone who has walked down the hallway of the McLaughlin Athletic Center towards the tennis courts has probably noticed the huge plaque on the wall, and had no idea what it represented. It represents track excellence, and has been hanging somewhere at La Salle since 1942. Well, now there is going to be another one. Bouthilette ran a 3:09.44 for 1200 meters, Morenzi posted a 50.96 for the 400, Paiva ran a blistering 1:57.2 for the 800, and Salisbury used his patented kick in his 4:14.52 1600 meter final leg to give the Maroon the win.
