La Salle University communication major Cody Barr is working as an executive office intern with NBC Sports in Stamford, Conn., and will assist with the network’s coverage of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
“I have had my hands in a bunch of really exciting projects,” Barr said, “including press events, assisting with ticketing to some of the sporting world’s most exciting winter events, conducting market research, and sitting in on Pro Football Talk, which is a live show broadcast from Stamford’s studios.”
Barr, a junior from Palermo, N.J., was interviewed three times by phone during the selection process before she was chosen as an intern, only two weeks before she had to start on Jan. 6. She will work with the network through the Olympics, which are scheduled to run through Feb. 23.
“The coolest part of this whole experience, besides seeing the behind the scenes of the Olympics, is getting to be in a place surrounded by such high-powered individuals. I interact with some of the sporting world’s most influential people, which is something I never imagined,” she said.
