College integrates new STEM graduate certificates within
Mechanical Engineering program.
With a continued focus on advancing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in the classroom, Manhattan College recently launched six new graduate certificates within the Mechanical Engineering program. Students can pursue a certificate in biomechanics, engineering management, energy systems, nuclear power, green building engineering or aerospace/propulsion.
“The new certificates offer graduate students and professionals the option to focus on one field and the opportunity to conduct research with an expert faculty member and present their findings,” said Bahman Litkouhi, Ph.D., P.E., professor and graduate director of the Mechanical Engineering department.
With the new certificates, graduates can pursue a job or advance their careers in a variety of industries, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, green design and energy consulting.
The certificates each require 12 credits of graduate coursework, including a research component. Within most of the certificates, students must take two required courses and one elective course.
Current industry professionals who hold a bachelor’s degree and graduate students are welcome to apply for the certificate programs. The Mechanical Engineering department also offers a seamless master’s program for undergraduates, which takes approximately five years to complete and can incorporate one of the mentioned certificates.
