We begin with an update on Charlie Barbush from his Director, Robert Bimonte, who reports that Charlie “remains stable with no fever since Friday. His white blood cell count is dropping (a good sign) and his vital signs are normal. It continues to be slow but steady progress. The goal is still to move him to a rehab facility when the doctors think he is ready.” Prayers to continue!
Hopefully, we all had time to celebrate our mothers this weekend, whether virtually in this realm or in the heavenly one. Here are our latest points for your consideration.
- Dealing with COVID-19 (Part 6). By now, we may feel that we have heard and read everything about dealing with this pandemic. The CDC has a great page of what we do well to know.
- Sharing Our Own Reflections. During this extended uncertain time, we continue to invite any among us who would like, to share some of your own insights, reflections and/or inspirations. It could be what you are doing during this crisis or perhaps what this crisis is doing to you. Thank you, Fred Mueller, for this great reflection.
- Prayer Service. We are happy to share another appropriate, beautiful prayer service which you may wish to use in community. Thank you, Tim Froehlich.
- Chefcast. What better way to get our minds off COVID than food! So, today we launch our new (hopefully) weekly series: Chefcast. We invite any of our community members to show us how to prepare a dish. Launching Chefcast, we have Chef Carl who will show us his culinary skills by preparing BC PASTA. As you will see in the video, it looks dee-lish. Thank you, Carl. And remember if this is to be a series, we need YOU to step and volunteer to be next Monday’s chef. Please contact Non-Chef Dennis if you are volunteering.
- Mitch Albom. Many of us read Tuesdays With Morrie some twenty years ago. Last month, the much-acclaimed author began writing a novel (Human Touch) in real time, centered on four families who live on one corner in Detroit. Each Friday, he posts a new chapter at this website. You can download for free or even listen on Audible.com. As he shares how these families are carrying on with life during this COVID moment, we all may find inspiration.
- Tom Brotherson. Great name, right? Tom is a fine Fine Arts teacher at Mullen High School in Denver, who is completing a Masters’ degree in Lasallian Leadership at Saint Mary’s University in Minnesota. His capstone project is this 16 minute video, “Together and By Association in a Time of Crisis.” It is pertinent, timely, and inspiring for our Lasallian mission. Thank you to his mentor, Ray Blixt, for sharing it with us.
