Christine Estes worked at St. Raphael’s Academy in Rhode Island for 12 years before coming to La Salle Academy in the fall of 2010. She is a 2002 graduate of the Buttimer Institute.
She is married to David Estes, a former teacher at both San Miguel – Providence and St. Raphael’s Academy.
Christine’s greatest gift is a strong pastoral presence – it is not uncommon for five or six students to be packed into her office to talk, seek advice, laugh or just to be in her presence,” said Matthew Daly, Director of Campus Ministry.
She is chaperoning the trip to Montana for the second straight year to work with De La Salle Blackfeet. She has coordinated the Homeless Sleepout to raise funds for Bishop Tobin’s “Keep the Heat On Fund” with approximately 100 students sleeping out on the steps of the cathedral overnight in late March. She has chaperoned all six Kairos Retreats run at La Salle since her arrival.
“Christine understands and lives the mission of St. John Baptist de la Salle to touch the minds and hearts of the youth. Her door is always open, which is symbolic of the openness of her heart to each and every student,” said La Salle Chaplain Fr. Michael Najim. “Her love for God and the students is the driving force behind her ministry at La Salle Academy.”
Finally, she has coordinated a series of dinner/dances at Jeanne Jugan Nursing Home in Pawtucket which links our young people up with the elders for a fun evening. Christine brings a kindness and compassion to our office that is appreciated by both the students and her colleagues.
