Today the Church marks the Optional Memorial of the Blessed Spanish Martyrs of the 20th Century. They gave their lives during the tumultuous Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) in Almeria, Valencia, Barcelona, Cartagena, Ciudad Real, Toledo, Tarragona, and Madrid–over 150 Brothers executed. (The Martyrs of Turon were killed in 1934.)
