11/30/11 – Narragansett, RI – A group of students, teachers and staff from Ocean Tides set sail on the Harvey Gamage, a 131 foot schooner, on a 4 day expedition from Newport. The expedition was part of a program offered by the Ocean Classroom Foundation. The Ocean Tides crew, most of whom had never been on any kind of vessel, worked as crew members, sailing the ship on 4 hour watches. They sailed Block Island sound and at one point they were about 60 miles south of Block Island. It was a great learning experience for all. For all the photos, click here.
