Louis and Marie Zelie Martin were canonized (declared saints) on this day. Mr. and Mrs. Martin were the parents of St. Therese of Lisieux. It is likely that Mr. Martin, as a boy, was taught by the Christian Brothers in the small French city of Alencon.
