Ticket to the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, 1893.

The World’s Columbian Exposition, held in Chicago in 1893 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Columbus’ voyage to the New World, was one of the most famous world fairs in American history.  Constructed on a 600-acre site on the South Side in Jackson Park, the “White City” was visited by about 20% of the population in the country.  The exposition featured scenic landscapes, remarkable architecture and showcased many exhibitions on manufacturing, government, science, liberal arts and education.  Catholic Education was a featured exhibition.  The Christian Brothers participated in the Catholic Educational Exhibit by providing materials as well as attending various events and lectures leading up to and during the fair.
