St. John’s Indian School opened near Gray Horse (OK); the Sisters of St. Francis conducted this ministry for Native American boys of the Osage tribe. Christian Brothers from the Legacy St. Louis District eventually replaced the Sisters in 1907, but were obliged to depart in 1913.
