The 18th Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo ended with its closing ceremonies. During these games, gold medals for the eight-oared rowing competition were won by the U.S. Two members of that team were students at La Salle College (later University) in Philadelphia, namely Stan Cwiklinski and Hugh Foley.
