Archbishop Joseph Alemany of San Francisco praised California’s Lasallian ministries in a letter to Brother Justin (McMahon) on this date: “St. Mary’s College as well as the other schools under the Brothers here give me full satisfaction, not only because of the religious and exemplary conduct of the Brothers but also for the excellent Christian education they give to so many of our young people. I hope that God will continue to bless them and increase their numbers. I always ask this in my prayers.”
