Brother Benilde (1805-1862), a distinguished teacher in France, was declared a saint by Pope Paul VI. He was the first Brother of the Institute to canonized and became the second saint of the Institute, after John Baptist de La Salle himself. St. Benilde’s Feast Day is August 13.
