About the School

St. Joseph School in Addis Ababa opened in 1959 and serves 1,500 boys in grades 1 to 12 with an average class size of 55. Demand for admission is high. For the 110 seats available in first grade, St. Joseph School receives up to 350 applications. Parents draw a lottery for acceptance. In addition to low tuition, significant alumni donations help support students by providing students from low-income families with full high school scholarships that cover tuition, uniforms, textbooks, and related expenses. The school also provides scholarships to children of staff members, orphans, and other students in need.
