The death certificate, bearing this date, reported the demise (on the day before) of Brother Agathon, Superior General. Backstory: Brother Agathon had earlier been sentenced to death by authorities during the French Revolution, but this order was modified to imprisonment. Brother Agathon, who earlier had written Twelve Virtues of a Good Teacher, was released from prison to see the destruction of so much of the Institute which he had promoted for so long.
