This is the Feast Day of Blessed Brother Scubilion (Rousseau). Born in France, he was the catechist of the enslaved natives on the island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean from 1833 until his death in 1867. Brother Scubilion was beatified (one step from sainthood) by Pope John Paul II in 1989.
