Brother Francis (McMullin) was preparing to teach the First Class (oldest boys) at Cathedral Parish School, located within the old Calvert Hall in Baltimore, but no adequate lay teacher could be found to conduct the Second Class (youngest students). So the pastor wrote to Brother Aidant in Canada to send a young Irish-Canadian novice (Brother Edward Whitty), who arrived in Baltimore on this day in 1845.

Do the names of these first 100 boys appear anywhere? Is there any record of who they were?
