UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) awarded to the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools its Noma Award for 1990, the International Literacy Year. Brother John Johnston received this award on this date in Geneva at a special ceremony presided by the Director General of UNESCO.
