Rome, Italy – Sister Chiara Tanzi ’08 from St. John’s professed her final vows on March 25, 2019 as a Missionary Sister of St. Charles Borromeo (https://www.missionariesancarlo.org/). The ceremony took place in Rome, Italy at the parish of Santa Maria del Rosario.

Sister Chiara attended St. Anselm’s Catholic School in Bayridge, Brooklyn, NY from grades K – 7 and St. Jude’s Catholic School in Rockville, MD for 8th grade. She graduated from SJCHS in 2008 in the Scholar’s Program and was a member of the National Honor Society. After high school Chiara became active in Communion and Liberation, a lay movement in the Catholic Church.

She attended the University of Maryland enrolled in the Honors College as a Banneker/Key Scholar earning a double-major in History and Romance Languages while minoring in International Development. She served as the graduation commencement speaker for the History faculty.

Chiara entered the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo in 2012 and has professed temporary vows since 2015. In 2018, she received her Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University and has begun work on her Ph.D.

Monica Wixon and Natalie Murray both SJCHS graduates and classmates of Sr. Chiara while at St. John’s were present in Rome for her final profession.

May God continue to bless Sr. Chiara as she continues as a perpetually professed Missionary Sister of St. Charles Borromeo.
