Christopher Fulco, Ed.D.
Buffalo, NY – The Board of Trustees for St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute has announced the appointment of Christopher Fulco, Ed.D., as the fourth president of the Buffalo secondary school. He will assume the role on July 1, 2018, following the retirement of Mr. Robert T. Scott, AFSC after 48 years of incredible service to the Lasallian mission and school.
“As we moved through the search process over the last seven months, it became clear that Dr. Fulco’s track record in fostering collaboration and innovation both inside
and outside of the classroom combined with a deep commitment to his faith made him the right choice to sustain our mission of providing high quality, Lasallian Catholic education,” wrote Trustees’ Board Chair John Berger, Jr., ’84, in a letter to the St. Joe’s school community.
Dr. Fulco brings more than twenty years of experience and results in education and leadership, most recently as the head of school at Woodlynde School in Strafford, PA. In his current position, he oversees the operations for all departments, including academics, admissions, advancement, financial management, and strategic planning.
During his tenure at Woodlynde, Chris led the K-12 school through the creation and implementation of two strategic plans. He reorganized staffing and strategies in admissions, resulting in an 18 percent enrollment increase in three years. And by revitalizing the school’s cultivation and stewardship program, the school’s annual giving program increased 60 percent. Chris began his career as an admissions counselor while completing his M.A. in Teaching, then spent three years in the classroom as a high school English instructor, coach, and dormitory master at Georgetown Prep in the Washington, D.C. area. In 2000, Chris relocated to Pennsylvania and began teaching English at Downington High School. He earned his principal certification in 2003 and assumed the role of assistant principal, overseeing the professional development and evaluation of teachers.
Another opportunity presented itself in 2007, and Chris was named principal at Springfield High School in Springfield, Pennsylvania. In this role, he instituted a new plan for special education programming and oversaw a school-wide campaign focused on increasing literacy levels. In May of 2009, Chris completed his Doctor of Education degree from Seton Hall University and was appointed to his current role at Woodlynde. Just as important as his measurable growth in areas of admissions and advancement, he has created a culture of trust and transparency inside the school – earning him great respect among all stakeholders.
Chris and his wife, Megan, are active members of their home parish, St. Joseph’s, where Chris serves on the Pastoral Council. Currently, all four of their children attend Catholic schools.
