An evening of art and music featuring students and alumni
5/4/2011 – Buffalo, NY – A Sesquicentennial “Celebration of the Arts” saluting the St. Joe’s student and alumni contributions to the field of performing and visual arts took place Wednesday evening, May 4th, at the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall on the Buffalo State College campus. Continuing its recognition of 150 years of excellence in Lasallian education, St. Joe’s held this multi-dimensional event to recognize current student work plus that of distinguished alumni in various artistic fields.
The evening opened with the 29th Annual Student Art Exhibit at 5 PM, showcasing all St. Joe’s art students had to offer. From photography to sculpture, to painting, to multimedia, and most everything in between, an art lover would be hard pressed not to find a piece they enjoyed.
At 7 PM, the evening flowed to the performance hall where a choral and instrumental two-part concert showcased the Percussion Ensemble, Varsity Singers, Swing Choir and Jazz Lab Band. After a brief intermission, the Concert Band, the combined student choral ensembles together with the Alumni Men’s Choir, came to the stage for an all-star musical finale. In addition, there were multi-media presentations between sets featuring the work and profiles of professional alumni artists.
