10/20/11 – Staten Island, NY -St. Peter’s graduate John Dowd ’08, is currently a senior at the United States Navel Academy at Annapolis. He is a mechanical engineering major with a 3.91index. He is also an offensive lineman on their varsity football team. John has been nominated for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. The award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders.
Dowd leads by example on and off the field. He tutors other players on the team that are struggling in the classroom and is always willing to go the extra mile to help a teammate. He defines what a Navy football player should be like on the field, in the classroom and in Bancroft Hall.
