All of the Brothers gathered for the Centennial celebration, along with Cardinal Dolan.

Staten Island, NY – The “Celebration of the Century” certainly lived up to its name — and then some — on Sunday October 22, at The Hilton Garden Inn, where some 700 revelers gathered to mark the St. Peter’s Boys High School centennial of bringing Catholic education to Staten Island.

The day-long celebration began with a Centennial Mass celebrated by Cardinal Timothy Dolan in the historic St. Peter’s R.C. Church, New Brighton, followed by a divine cocktail reception with St. Peter’s Boys High School alums and special guests in the Trevi & Tea House Garden in the Bloomfield venue.

John Fodera, former principal of St. Peter’s Boys High School, who has assumed the role of president, addressed the crowd:

“I’d like to thank all of you for being here tonight, and the Christian brothers for all they have handed down to us, and my wife Barbara and my family. Tonight we celebrate our spiritual leader, the late Monsignor James Dorney. And thanks for helping me celebrating my 50th anniversary with St. Peter’s.”

He added: “We are proud of the fabric of what we are today. And that’s what St. Peter’s is all about. And it’s because of all of you that were able to build our athletic complex, because you make things possible. The Centennial Campaign for St. Peter’s Boy’s High School establishes scholarships for deserving boys for years to come. I am forever indebted to all of you and all you do for St. Peter’s. We have all been blessed.”
