Members of the Christian Brothers Academy Class B State Champion Girls Lacrosse Team were honored by the Syracuse Chiefs a NBT Bank Stadium on June 15.

Jan. 3, 2013 – DeWitt The Syracuse Chiefs honored the Christian Brothers Academy Class B State Champion Girls Lacrosse team at NBT Bank Stadium on Saturday, June 15. Harvard bound Marisa Romeo threw out the first pitch with her lacrosse stick.

The girls captured the State Title as they defeated Brighton, 14-7 on June 8 at Cortland State.

It was the second State Title for the girls program in three years. The Brothers defeated Mount Sinai to win the Class C Championship in 2011.

Members of the team include:

Seniors Romeo, Taylor Poplawski, Olivia Pitonzo, Alyssa Pitonzo, Maddie Calkins, Rachel Perla and Sydney Murphy; juniors Hailey Dobbins, Alea Bonner and Bella Corieri; sophomores Alexa Radziewicz, Evie Lopoo, Katie Anderson and Hannah Werner; freshmen Amanda Fess, Adriana Fess, Alexandria Fess, Lexi Luthringer, Kate Derrenbacker, Rachel Vercillo, Maddie Cook, Emily Ehle and Lillie Hunt and eighth grader Rachel Ziemba.

Six girls will play collegiately next fall. In addition to Romeo attending Harvard, Poplawski will attend Syracuse University; the Pitonzo sisters and Calkins will attend Marist; and Perla will attend St. Bonaventure.
