3 Lasallians recognized at the 49th Annual Christmas Dinner
12/4/11 – Woodbury, NY – As part of the 49th Annual Christmas Dinner hosted by the Familiares at the Crest Hollow Country Club, three Lasallians were honored for their continued contributions to the Christian Brothers Mission: Ms. Joanne Darnowski, Mr. Dan Cronin, and Br. Thomas Casey, FSC.
Mrs. Joanne Darnowski from the Martin De Porres Schools, was introduced by Br. Kevin Finn, FSC, who reminisced about fun times, but thanked her for immeasurable service to the children, families, and collagues of MDP. Br. Dennis Cronin, FSC, introduced his brother Daniel, admiring his steadfastness to teaching at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High, describing him as a teacher with “chalk in his lungs.” Br. Thomas Casey, FSC was introduced by Dr. Thomas J. Dowling, Jr, who praised Brother’s tireless work in establishing and leading The De La Salle School, which has served the fiscally disadvantaged youth of Freeport for the last 10 years.
The Familiares is an organization of laypersons who are associates of The Brothers of the Christian Schools, more specifically in the historic Long Island – New England District. For over 40 years, the Familiares have worked closely with the Brothers, and have aided them whenever possible in the mission of education of the young, especially the poor. Each year, the Familiares host a Christmas Dinner, at which they honor and recognized dedicated Lasallians, Brothers, and Partners alike, for their committed service.
