The Inaugural meeting of ISLA, the International Society of Lasallian Archivists

Rome, Italy – More than 30 Archivists from over 20 Districts of the Institute gathered at the Motherhouse in Rome to participate in the Inaugural meeting of ISLA, the International Society of Lasallian Archivists. DENA was represented by Ms. Amy Surak of Manhattan College, and Br. Joseph Grabenstein, FSC, and Alex Palma of La Salle University. From October 29-31, the participants came together to meet, connect and work collectively to help support the research of our Lasallian heritage. Members listened to several presentations from various Districts, they met in language groups to exchange ideas and resources, they contributed to two surveys and they explored the Archives, Museum and the Library of the Generalate as well as the historical collections of external institutions. The meetings were well-received and members were actively engaged in discussions and debates. After this successful initial international meeting, members are looking forward to a possible future gathering in two years in New York City.
