De La Salle Blackfeet School Administrative Office trailer

De La Salle Blackfeet School Administrative Office trailer was damaged by fire over the first weekend of January 2020

Browning, MT – Prayers and donations are being requested for the De La Salle Blackfeet School in Browning, MT. On Sunday, January 5, a fire broke out inside one of the school’s trailers, primarily used for administrative staff offices: bookkeeping, counseling offices, support staff, and school president’s office. The space also served as a regular meeting place for staff functions, bi-annual board meetings, and even sleeping areas for visiting immersion groups.

Early Sunday morning, a community member noticed smoke coming from the trailer. The Blackfeet Fire Department responded quickly and effectively to extinguish the fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the trailer suffered extensive damages and much of the contents were consumed by the fire or damaged by smoke and water.

De La Salle Blackfeet School is a Lasallian San Miguel school which serves the community on the Blackfeet Indian reservation in Montana, a remote region bordered by Canada to the north and Glacier National Park to the west. Despite the tragic loss of the trailer from a fire, our students and staff continue to persevere through this hardship as they returned from the Christmas and New Year’s Holiday Break.

We continue to pray for the De La Salle Blackfeet community as they recover from this tragedy.
