Claudius William (Kelly)
Brother Claudius William (Kelly) of the LI-NE District died on March 2, 1962. His teaching tour of duty consisted of 20 years at De La Salle Institute and 13 years at Bishop Loughlin HS. The writer of his necrology hints that he was a librarian for many or most of his years. “His going will leave many of us groping for the little acts of kindness he performed for us.”

Elsebaan Felix (Blankmeyer)
Brother Elesbaan Felix (Blankmeyer) died on April 14, 1962. At that time he was the oldest veteran in the Baltimore District in point of profession (67 years). In an era of minimal scholasticate training and no grants or fellowships, Brother Felix became a scholar and a teacher by sheer determination, demonstrating proficiency in languages, science, math, music, art, philosophy, and education.

Eadbert (Schwertfuehrer)
Brother Eadbert (Schwertfuehrer) died on May 14, 1962. He received the Robe at the age of 30 in 1902. Only after age 70 did he ever spend more than one year in one school. “His friends have remarked `Schwartzie’s’ detached, even roving, spirit…in its profoundest nature seemed to demand that he be on the move.”

Brother Alban Aloysius, former director and principal of St. Raymond’s (Bronx) celebrated his golden jubilee in the Institute.

Arator Ignatius
Brother Arator Ignatius was honored for his 50th Anniversary as a Brother at La Salle School (Albany) with a dinner, at which all the boys participated. Later that night a public assembly for the entire school population to remember Brother Ignatius was held in the school auditorium. Yet another event was held for him on May 26.
