PROGRAMS & EVENTS
The principal themes of Lasallian formation include community, commitment, charism, the founding story, spirituality, pedagogy, and mission.
From webinars and spiritual retreats to single and multiday professional development workshops and programs, Lasallians are invited to learn more about the Lasallian educational mission and deepen their role in it. Inspired by Christ’s experience with the apostles and by the life of Saint John Baptist de La Salle along with the Brothers, Lasallians associated for the educational mission can participate in a number of formation processes and programs that transmit the Institute’s rich founding sources and develop the personal and professional qualifications needed to meet the challenges of the Lasallian mission. Associating with the Lasallian mission requires the integration of the fundamental elements of the Lasallian charism in the personal, communal, and professional life of a Lasallian educator.

Regional Events
The Huether Lasallian Conference is an annual gathering of Lasallian educators in the region. Location and theme change each year with a focus on innovative educational issues. Through a thoughtful blend of keynote addresses, pre-conference seminars, panel presentations, breakout sessions, and prayer services, we call upon scholars from within and outside the Lasallian tradition in matters pertaining to each year’s theme.
The Brother John Johnston Institute of Contemporary Lasallian Practice focuses on Lasallian heritage in light of current realities. Utilizing contemporary texts to address the signs and issues of our times, Johnston Institute will engage participants in reflection and discussion on several critical areas of the Lasallian educational mission.
Lasallian Association of Secondary School Chief Administrators (LASSCA) fosters and preserves a cooperative spirit among the chief administrators of secondary schools in the Region (RELAN). It establishes a forum for discussion and a vehicle for action whereby the leadership of the member schools among the region collaborate in the promotion of the Lasallian educational mission. Each year LASSCA holds a three day gathering, planned by chief administrators for chief administrators, to explore an important educational leadership theme in detail, as well as to share best practices and innovative ideas.
The goal of Lasallian Social Justice Institute (LSJI) is to promote the continuing process of conversion to solidarity with persons in poverty, and to provide an authentic response to the Gospel and our Lasallian vocation. It is designed to be experiential, educational, creatively practical, and reflective. LSJI seeks to help participants draw closer to the world of the poor in order to be evangelized by them. LSJI embodies the Lasallian commitment to association for the educational service of the poor and the rights of children.
Twinning is an initiative of the De La Salle Christian Brothers (Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools) that encourages Districts which are financially able to aid those most in need. In the Lasallian Region of North America (RELAN), middle and secondary schools in United States and Toronto are twinned with 14 ministries in four countries in the Lwanga District of Africa: Kenya, Nigeria, Eritrea and Ethiopia. While the RELAN schools help support the Lwanga ministries financially, the students also build relationships as brothers and sisters in the Lasallian family to share challenges, accomplishments, stories and experiences.
